I just couldn’t find that level of psychic distance where I felt close enough to them. It wasn’t an issue for me to care about them and worry myself senseless when they were in danger.

This book was excellent! When I read Malice and Valor, I had trouble connecting with the characters.

Let me just take a moment to pick my jaw off the floor. Their choices will determine the fate of the Banished Lands, and no matter the path it will lead to lives lost. Resistance is brewing, and the cord binding the Bright Star and the Black Sun has never been tighter. The Kadoshim have crossed over and truths have been made known to those who have been deceived. I’ve no idea what made it click in my brain, but this series is something special and I just couldn’t see it until book three. I’ve enjoyed my time in the Banished Lands, diving into books one and two with the feeling that I wasn’t reading anything mind-blowing but having fun, nonetheless. “Keep a close watch on the path you follow, my friend, else one day you will look about you and not know where you are.” Ruin by John Gwynne (Book Review by Thewitch_kingreads)
